Deciding to enrol on an MBA programme is one of the most crucial and challenging decisions of your career. Not only do you and your employer have to commit to a substantial investment in time and money but there are vast numbers of MBA programmes to choose from. If you are serious about advancing your career and expanding your business knowledge, then you need to think very carefully about which is the right institution and programme for you.
Durham Business School is one of an elite group of business schools to hold the triple accreditation of AASCB (the USA’s Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), Equis (European Quality Improvement System) and AMBA (Association of MBAs).
A key factor to consider when choosing an MBA is that the programme is fully accredited. Studying on an accredited programme ensures that you can be confident of the quality of the degree you will receive. It is also an important criterion for an increasing number of employers who recognize that not all MBAs are equal.
In a recently published guide to UK universities (The Complete University Guide 2010, in association with The Independent), Durham was ranked 5th in the UK after Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London and the London School of Economics. Of these five, only Oxford, Cambridge and Durham are “full subject” universities.
There are also many specific advantages to students in the Caribbean to studying with Durham and CariMEC.
- You receive the same programme as taught in Durham; it is only the method of delivery that differentiates between programmes. Your degree certificate will be exactly the same as if you had studied on the full time or part time programme at Durham.
- You receive face to face tuition in Barbados by Durham faculty – the same people who teach in Durham itself. The benefits of receiving tuition in this way include the discipline of attendance, ensuring most will complete within the scheduled time period, and personal interaction with tutors and fellow students. CariMEC also provides some resident academic support.
- We aim to recruit high calibre students from a wide range of managerial backgrounds to provide diversity of experience and a powerful forum for collaborative learning. The calibre of our students means they are capable of making a contribution to debate from the beginning.
- You will be encouraged, where possible, to base your assignments on your own company or industry allowing you to develop a range of practical managerial skills that are immediately applicable.
- Classes are scheduled for the minimum disruption to you and your employer. Modules are delivered once every 5weeks on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and all day Friday and Saturday. Teaching is in a central location in Barbados.
- Flexible payment options, including an interest free loan over the period of study.
